Just a few days ago, one of our pastors in Andhra Pradesh (AP), South India wrote to us about the escalating weather in AP. Though monsoon season runs from July – September, AP is still affected by heavy rains, with no signs of it slowing anytime soon. Visitors travelling with Hopegivers during monsoon season have witnessed how bad the flooding can get. Even after one day of rain, it is hard to find a dry spot anywhere you look. Imagine how bad it gets after one week of rain!
Most recently, a five-day rainstorm has ravaged AP, taking many lives. In the area where our pastor serves, nearly 35 rural villages have flooded, causing 5,000 people to seek government shelters. Crops and plantations have been damaged. Our pastor wants to help the people that are suffering. There are 500 families in his village and the surrounding communities that need food and shelter. Just $12.50 can provide one of these families with a 10kg bag of rice and a blanket – basic necessities to provide immediate life-sustaining assistance.
Please join with us during this time of emergency and help us raise $6,250 to bring aid and encouragement to these families recovering from the recent floods. We covet your prayers for the pastor, his congregation and the thousands who are struggling to survive as the rains are set to continue through November.
"The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry." – Psalm 34:15
