Some people are afraid to die for their faith, but I think living for your faith takes a lot more courage. Offering your life as a "living sacrifice" means that you have to die for your faith every day-die to selfish interests, die to dreams you have for yourself that aren't necessarily God's dreams for you, and die to sinful desires.
Think about it, leaving this earth is a one-time event that happens to everyone and doesn't usually involve a choice. Living for God, on the other hand, requires the daily choice of putting the old selfish you to death.
Here are some great ways to get started living out a life of radical sacrifice: Tell your family and friends about the gift of eternal life; serve your family with a good attitude; treat co-workers and those in authority over you with respect; accept trials with the attitude that they are an opportunity for others to see you keep your hope and trust in God; think of ways to show kindness to people who treat you badly; and always say you're sorry when you mess up.
Most of all, get to know God by reading His Word and talking to Him every day. That is where your strength for the daily sacrifice will come from. Dying to yourself daily sounds hard but strangely, it actually makes you the happiest! Jesus said that when you give up your life and become a living sacrifice, you will find true life. You will be an example to others, you will grow closer to God, and your life will be filled with real exciting purpose, joy, and amazing opportunities!
