I thought you would like to hear directly from one of our orphans this month. Her name is Suzana.
“Hi! My name is Suzana. I was born on the 15th of September 2001. My family was part of the Tangkhuy tribe and we lived near the Myanmar border. I have 7 siblings; 6 are older than me. Life became very dark for us when my mother died in childbirth. My father was devastated and became lost and withdrawn. My granny was too old and weak to take care of 8 of us, but she also recognized that my father was not there for us any more either. She wanted to make sure that we at least did not starve to death. We were all separated and sent to several orphanages.
I was 3 ½ when I came to the Hope Home in 2006. I am in the 8th grade now and I do well in my studies. I call our pastor’s wife mommy because she is really the only mommy I remember. When I tell her of my dreams to become a doctor she assures me that she will always be there for me and help me make my dreams come true. I pray for mommy every day that God will keep her healthy and strong. We all love her so much!”
The majority of our children dream of being a teacher, doctor, or a nurse, a pastor, or a pastor’s wife. Those dreams become a reality only when a child gets an education where hope for that kind of future is kept alive. You might think that the Hope Pack ($50) – filled with grade appropriate supplies and a school uniform – couldn’t possibly have such an impact down the road for a child. I promise you that it has a huge impact. As the children learn more about the rest of the world, they dream dreams that require them to be good at math, English, reading, science, etc. Isn’t that where you learned about being a policeman, fireman, businessperson, nurse or doctor? It is no different for Suzana and the other 6000 children we care for.
Please remember us this month with your help to fund more Hope Packs ($50). June will be here before we know it and we have several thousand more book bags we need to purchase and fill. If you cannot help financially, please pray for hearts to be moved by God to contribute. We love you and pray for you every day!
