We have mothers and grandmothers knocking on the doors of our Hope Homes weekly, begging us to take their children. Mira and Basanti are just 6 and 8 and had a difficult time figuring out why Mama left them and they haven’t seen her since. Maybe she doesn’t love us anymore… OR…Maybe it is because their Mama does love them sacrificially!
In the case of Mira and Basanti, their mother loves them. The girls’ parents are farmers and that work yields just enough to feed the family twice a day. These little girls would never get an education because there is never any extra money to buy their school uniforms, shoes or school supplies. This mother realized that her two precious children would end up living like her if they didn’t get an education.
During a visit from our pastor in the village, the girls’ mother asked if he would please take them. Through many tears and with broken hearts on both sides, the girls now live at one of our Hope Homes. They adjusted quickly – especially to three meals a day!
The girls came from a non-Christian background but are learning about Jesus, prayer and worship. They already know many of the worship songs and love singing them with the other children. Although they do miss their mother, they are still very happy. They are learning to read, write and know Jesus Christ. Mira has decided she wants to become a teacher – just like the one she now has. Basanti wants to become a doctor. When we asked why, she giggled and said, “Because I want to give all the patients shots!”
Please help us meet our goal of $40,000 so we an continue to supply every child with a Hope Pack filled with grade appropriate school supplies, a uniform, shoes, and underwear. Your donation of $50 per Hope Pack is desperately needed. Not a penny goes to waste. Thank you and please keep our children, their caretakers and the pastors in prayer.
