The Sneham Hope Home is currently home to 20 children, all boys. Sneham, which is the local word for “love,” has been serving orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children since starting in 1999. Located in a beautiful part of South India, Sneham was started by pastor Shaji, who has had a heart for the poor around him since he became a Christian. He said that when he heard the Gospel, “it influenced and challenged me and I dedicated my life for the Lord’s work. From that day on I decided to take care of 10 poor people.” Little did Shaji know that he would soon be caring for nearly 20 children, with a heart and vision to care for 50 orphaned and abandoned children someday. He started the Hope Home when God began to stir his heart with compassion for the children who had nothing to eat and no clothes to wear, just as he was when he was a child. Now they have a home to call their own, a big “family” that loves them, and care in the name of Jesus. The Hope Home here has a beautiful building that God has graciously provided with ample room for the children to play. Sneham is located between the mountains and the coast with rice plantations all around.
