“Off the Beaten Path” is a phrase that describes the Neer Uravu Hope Home well! Started back in 2004, it is currently “home” to 12 children. Neer Uravu, which means “well springs” in the local language, is located in a very rural area, surrounded by farming villages, and unreachable by vehicle. Rubber, coffee, and cocoa plantations abound in this area, which is a gateway to the mountains located nearby.
The children of the Neer Uravu Hope Home are truly a gateway of hope. These children, many of whom are the first children ever educated from the villages they were born in, are very intelligent, focused, driven, and have great plans for their futures. It is also a home that is literally filled with miracles! Some of the children have been healed upon coming to the Hope Home, so they really know what a “well spring” of hope is when found in Jesus. The children are also very happy and eager to talk to visitors, something they rarely get.
One of the things that stands out most about this home is the level of connectivity the children have with one another. They are so loving, encouraging, and helpful with one another that it is truly a blessing to be around them.
