A few weeks ago, Hopegivers introduced a new project to get our partners involved in spreading the good news in a personal way. We asked people to sew dolls in which we can put New Testaments and hand them out to street children. The response has been overwhelming!
We've heard from so many friends who have begun sewing their dolls and will be sending them in soon. Church groups and individuals are participating by sending in a variety of dolls – different patterns, different materials and different designs. In just a few weeks, we've already received 45 dolls in the office, and we have started sending them to India. Many church groups have contacted Hopegivers with questions: can they make teddy bears? Can they use different materials than those suggested? The answer to these questions is yes! We encourage our partners to be creative. As long as a 4" x 5.75" New Testaments can fit inside properly, we can use your dolls.
We are also getting Messengers from In Touch Ministries. In Touch Messengers are handheld solar-powered audio devices that come equipped with the New Testament, Psalms, Proverbs and sermons. With a lack of education for these children who are simply trying to survive day to day, this device will provide the Message in their own language in an easy to understand format.
Our goal is to send 5,000 dolls to India by the end of the year. Thank you to all of our friends who have participated in this project! And to those who are making more dolls for us, we can't wait to see what you create!
